As a Vine reviewer, in addition to this unit I also received the four Color Accessory Kits (Lime Green--looks like Yellow, Mint Blue--looks like Aqua, Hazelnut Brown--looks like Dark Chocolate, and Strawberry Red) and four packages of T DISCs none of which are included with the standard purchase of this machine. The T DISCs and other accessories are sold separately. Each unit does, however, come with an offer to receive two complimentary packages of T DISCs that will be sent to you after you register your Tassimo. My first impression is WOW, this Tassimo is gorgeous, especially with the interchangeable color choices for the front fascia of the machine. The machine is also simple to use but the initial instructions are not totally clear or organized logically. Before you even try to use the machine, my recommendation is to read all the instructions, not just the Quick Start instructions on the throwaway cardboard spacer or the confusing folded instructions that come... I really took my time with this review because I wanted to give this product a fair test. I've owned both regular coffee makers and the OTHER national brand (K) of single serve brewers. Overall, it rates between 3 - 5 stars, depending on your lifestyle. For me, it's a 3 to 3-1/2...but my 20-something family members give it a 4 to 5 star rating. The big pro's of the Tassimo is that it can offer a wider variety of specialty beverages that you would normally find in a coffee house. Each packet of coffee, milk, hot chocolate, and tea has is bar-coded, and a scanner will read the code and add the right amount of water. I also like the fact that you can customize the product to better fit your color scheme...that feature is quite ingenious. I also like that you can add more liquid to a beverage by holding down the large round brew button during the +cup phase. The size of the unit is great too...small and compact...and the water refill is super simple, like the other... I can think of a few good reasons for owning one of these single-cup brewers: * You are the only person in your house who likes coffee and you mostly only brew a cup at a time anyway * You have a business and you want a convenient way for customers to be able to make coffee if they want some without just letting a carafe sit around all day * You work in an office and would like a way to brew various types of coffee rather than the standard "1 flavor fits all" giant carafe that most offices do. If any of those are what you had in mind, then this is a great idea. (If you really do brew giant carafes of coffee at a time then something like this wouldn't make much sense.) So you buy some disks (sold separately) and put a disc in the machine and push a button and it will brew a cup of coffee for you. That's really all there is to it. For more complicated drinks, like cappuccino, it's a two disc process: put in the steamed milk disc... Read more |
